Steve is a homegrown product of the Motor City, Detroit. For the last 18 years, he’s been an award-winning creative problem solver at some big Ad shops in the mid-west: Doner, VML in Kansas City, Leo Burnett, and now .Monks, where he’s the Executive Creative Director of North America, leading the creative department on the GM account.
Throughout his career he gained an incredible amount of automotive experience. But he didn’t start out an Art Director, Steve started out building Ram Trucks at Chrysler when he was 20 years old. While busy getting his hands dirty in Motown, he also was busy pursuing his creative dreams in his free time… which introduced him to Advertising and Design.
A couple more of those big dreams came early in his Ad career. Steve created two Super Bowl commercials for Chevy and Buick in his first three years at Leo Burnett. He then spent several years leading the brand creative on GMC’s and Cadillac's social media channels. He was part of several teams that built social content plans from the ground up and developed dynamic and engaging non-traditional work.
Steve’s early experience and success jumpstarted his hunger for bigger ideas and bigger aspirations. And it eventually led him to where he is now, at .Monks - where Steve is merging big idea thinking, social, and digital design / craft with groundbreaking AI and experiential.
Some of the best leaders lead by example and Steve is no different. He’s a hustler. In work and in life. In his free time, Steve helps mentor aspiring directors, photographers, and content creators at PhotoPolitic. And he loves picking up his own camera. That constant curiousness drives him and keeps his hands in the dirt, exactly where they belong.
